Lotto bookmaker LottoLand.com has been for the better part of the last two decades taking bets for Australian lottery games, online, as an online lottery betting service provider – meaning that when playing Australian lotteries (or any other lottery game) on thee Lottoland website, you are not actually buying a ticket for the actual lotto game but making a bet on the outcome of the winning numbers. The winnings players make comes from the company pocket and the profits made from the bets stay in company pocket.
The lottery games make no revenue from this type of online betting and neither do the official lottery retailers and affiliated shops, kiosks, gas stations and workers in these places.
In Australia and in a few more countries there has been an outcry, specifically from the lottery retailers that are losing money to Lottoland.
Northern Territory (Regulator) Government Crack Down
In Australia things have gotten worse for Lottoland as the regulators are getting involved now. New Australian legislation since November 30th of this year now stops Lottoland from selling lottery betting services that are based on any Australian lottery game such as Oz Lotto or Australia Powerball.
If you go to the Lottoland.com website you can see that they are still offering betting services for Australian lottery games, namely Saturday Lotto, Powerball, Monday Lotto, Wednesday Lotto and Oz Lotto which brings us to believe that they don’t seem to care about the new legislations.
It seems that they may even feel that they are unfair and that they do not have to comply with the new legislation passed by the Northern Territory (Regulator) Government on November 30th of this year.
They may actually be right as they are not doing anything illegal. Still it seems that they don’t seem to care about the new legislation and may get in trouble for not complying with the Regulators.
